Tiny Totos is a social enterprise incubator that works with daycare entrepreneurs operating their businesses in Nairobi’s slums.

Tiny Totos began as an informal effort to support slum-based daycare services in 2012.  After an instructive if ultimately unsuccessful effort to work with a community-based organization to develop a replicable model, focused concertedly on existing for-profit daycare ventures in 2013.  Tiny Totos became a dedicated programme of Impact Capital Advisors (www.icaafrica.com), a for-profit consultancy working with impact investors focused on the East African market, in 2014 after winning a $100,000 USD grant from Grand Challenges Canada to scale up and prove its pilot intervention.

In July 2015 TTK won a grant and acceptance to a business accelerator programme funded by DFID-USAID-Nike called ‘SPRING.’ With their support, TTK is testing the concept of collaborating with corporates who hire under skilled workers from the slums to see if providing better daycare services for their children improves their attendance at work.

Tiny Totos Kenya is currently in the process of being established in its own right as a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee.
